Event Rental Consultant, Social Tables Expert, Accounts Manager
Where are you from?
I was born in West Monroe, Louisiana (a true Southerner all the way!) but grew up outside of Houston in Sugar Land, Texas
Did you attend college? If so, where?
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2011, with Bachelor’s degrees in Public Relations and Radio/Television/Film, along with a certification in Business Foundations.
How long have you been in the events industry?
I’ve been in the events industry for almost five years now. I interned with an event planning company the semester after I graduated and fell in love with the industry!
Three facts about yourself?
I am a big geek. I’ve had an obsession with movies and TV ever since I can remember. I grew up going to the movies every weekend and with all three of the VCRs in my house recording at least two hours of television a night. I own 600(ish) DVDs and Blu-Rays and keep up with about 20-25 shows during the main TV season (not including the summer). I even check entertainment news more often than regular news. My favorite genres are horror (the gorier the better) and romantic comedy (“Love, Actually” for the win!). Ask me for some recommendations!
I actually moonlight as a member of the press. By day I’m an Event Rental Consultant but by night I’m a Feature Writer and Critic for the horror website Bloody Disgusting. I get to do fun things like attend SXSW and Fantastic Fest (for free!) and see lots of horror films in advance of their release. It’s a real passion of mine!
I am a very adventurous eater. I will try anything once and always look for the weirdest thing on the menu to order (squid, frog legs, snake, turtle, tripe, tongue, etc.) And even though I live in Texas, the only type of food I prefer not to eat is Mexican food or Tex-Mex. Sorry!
What is your job title and description?
I am an Event Rental Consultant. I help all walk-ins and social clients with all of their event rental needs. With a small background in event planning, I can help answer any questions you may have to help alleviate any stress clients may have about upcoming events. I’m also pretty skilled at Social Tables, our Computer-Assisted Diagram (CAD) software. If you need to map out your event, I’m your guy!
What is your favorite thing about the events industry?
Having a PR background, meeting new people and networking are my favorite things about the events industry. I have met so many different types of people and they have helped me grow to be the person I am today. Also, this is a very fast-paced environment, which makes for an exciting work atmosphere!
